PONTOON OIL SKIMMER INSTALLATION

Mesa pontoon skimmers are engineered for a precise fit on the floating roof storage tank. Each skimmers is designed after taking into consideration detailed dimensions of the storage tank and compatibility with the stored products. Mesa is then able to offer a complete design that will operate efficiently throughout the day-to-day cycling of the tank. Below is an example of the type of instructions that customers receive for installing Mesa pontoon skimmers:

1. Verify that the guide column is installed in the correct location according to AST drawing furnished.
2. Weld the lower float stops to the column as shown on MD-1283.
3. Disassemble the pontoons and the pontoon structure as necessary to move them into tank. (If needed all parts can pass through 20” man way if completely disassembled). When disassembling the unit note carefully the arrangement of the components and the fastener location – Particularly note that the pontoon tanks are centered in the brackets as shown on drawing MD-1283.
4. Once the float assembly is reassembled around the guide column the Resist-All-Clad skimmer conduit can be connected to the tank shell nozzle, laid into its coils on the tank floor and connected to the skimming intake connection on the float assembly as shown on drawing MD-1410. A separate instruction for this procedure is attached and is essentially the same as that used for
   installing a Mesa roof drain hose under a floating roof.
