OIL SKIMMERS
Mesa Skimmer systems feature an exclusive vortex breaker design for the most efficient intake of fluids during skimmer operations. Pontoon Skimmer systems are designed so that the Vortex Breaker remains in flotation via two pontoons and support guide column. The Vortex Breaker height is adjustable in relation to the pontoons (prior to placing the system in service) to control the amount of lighter liquids that are drained from the top of the heavier product. In the design of the Floating Roof skimmer, the vortex breaker is attached to the roof with two brackets (shown at right). This attachment keeps the intake-to-roof distance constant as the floating roof travels up and down.
