Introduction
The installation requires two parts: a) the cover and b) an enclosure called the transition box (Mesa supplied, optional). The transition box is mounted on the floating roof to enclose the guide rollers and their support brackets. This is typically a two piece box with a hole on the top through which the gauge pole passes. The cover clamps to the top of the transition box opening on the roof and to the top of the gauge pole, above the upper most slot and typically at the platform height. These two parts, when properly installed, keep the product vapors from escaping into the atmosphere.
Tools, Equipment and Personnel
A) Means for lifting the two components onto the floating roof. (80-100 lbs each)
B) Wrenches for 3/8" and 5/8" bolts and nuts. Flat head screw driver (not phillips)
C) 120 ft. of 3/8" truckers rope
D) At least three capable personnel for installation depending on the roof position (see note 4)
E) Caulking gun for a 10 oz. caulking cartridge
F) Aviation snips or diagonal cutter
Procedure:
1) Place the cover and transition box (with fasteners) on the roof at the base of the gauge pole.
